    Default New E30 Owner

    Hi I'm Corey,

I've had a WTB posted up here for over a year patiently looking for an E30. Finally pulled the trigger on one yesterday.

    1989 325i Coupe 5 Speed in Zinnoberrot.

The car lived it's life in California and it's only been here for 1.5 years and has been stored since. The previous owner (girl) owned it for 10 years, and her dad was a mechanic so he did all of the maintenance.

It's got 204k miles, but the odometer recently stopped turning. The timing belt was done in June of last year. The radiator looks pretty new, as does the starter. This car has zero, I mean zero rust, so I'm very pleased.

No aftermarket parts on it, the interior is in pretty good shape. This is by far the best one I've looked at while shopping so I had to pull the trigger.

My near future plans would be probably suspension, LSD, short shifter, maybe a steering rack from an e36 M3. I'm used to my past two cars, a WRX and an Evo, so I'm holding the suspension feel and clutch/shifter feel to high standards. So I want to get those feeling better first and foremost.

I'm sure down the line somewhere I'd like to do an engine swap.

I'm still learning about these cars, there's so much info out there on them. Any tips on first things to do to these or look for would be greatly appreciated!

Anyway, cheers guys. Hope to see some of you at events and what-not.

    - Corey

Nobody sits like this rock sits. You rock, rock. The rock just sits and is. You show us how to just sit here and that's what we need.

Congrats on the hold out and persistence. Looks like it paid off. Feel free to fire away with ?s as there are many on this board that know the e30 like the back of their hand. Good luck!

A good set of low-profile summer tires will do much to improve the feel of the car. Those factory all-seasons are as big and floppy as they come. That said, e30's drive better then MANY newer cars ive driven so im sure you wont be disapointed.

Did you pick this up in Mankato? I can't distinguish anything specific I remember from the car that was for sale here by your pics, but it looks like thats the one! It looked very clean, price seemed a bit steep though, if that was the one. Good find either way.
