    Default 8v swap

I have a 1985 Golf GLC(?) 2-door, it's a CIS 8v going to be swapping in an AEB 1.8t instead of the vr6 swap because my vr is bad.. anyway my question is I also have a 1986 or 1987 Golf GL 4-door I will be repairing body work and using it as a daily driver. They're both CIS, and CE1 will I be able to swap in the motor from the GLC which only has 99k miles on it and will it be pretty much plug and play with the harness/connectors? I'm fairly positive it'll be an easy swap but I don't want to mess with wiring, if I have to it's getting an ABA.

Can I do anything with the exhaust manifold? Like use an ABA one or soemthing? I hate those stupid c clip things that hold on the stock downpipe they leak because they're a little stretched..

an ABA one would probably work if you used a mk2 16v downpipe. contrary to what I've seen spewed on the internet, the aba downpipe is a little longer and is pain to make work on a non-aba.

otherwise, the run of the mill dual outlet mk2 manifold/downpipe setup should work. if it's just temporary for a daily, why not just throw down $10 or so on new clamps and deal with the toilet bowl? saves a couple hours of messing with shitty old exhaust. also not hard to remove/install if one makes a tool out of an exhaust clamp.

Because well.... why not? lol I had an ABA laying around and a G60 (with no charger :/ )laying around and I didn't want to mess with wiring on that POS daily/winter beater. My main goal here is to make it look decent and have a some-what reliable motor, which is why I've done a shit ton of maintenance to it. The original DP had holes in it and I was sick of the clamp bullshit because they leak. I took the G60 exhaust manifold and it bolts up no problem, it's dual port and I've read it's like a 6-10 HP increase which is always nice for daily driving... regular CIS motors only came with 85 HP so it's literally like driving a Geo. A few more ponies can't hurt the cause, would really like to buy a cam for it... would the ABA cam give it a few more HP/Trq while I'm at it? I have one laying around aswell and I've also read that all of the hydrolic lifter head cams from 85-98 are interchangeable

Also.... I can't find my G60 downpipe does anyone have one for sale?

My neighbor has a G60 compressor, and I believe he has most of the motor or all of it. He has been wanting to get rid of some stuff in his garage. I could talk to him if you are interested.

Yes, see if he has wiring harness and ecu aswell.. not spending a fortune on a G60 though... specially not $400 on an old charger that probably needs to be rebuilt.
