    Default Approaching 200k...

New guy around here, like the site so far. The few questions I have asked have been answered quickly which I have had less luck on other forums. Most of my summer has been spent trying to revive this 80's Benzer 260e I6, actually had the same car with a bit more rust and a shot tranny at only 130k which quickly became the donor parts car. The new one had been sitting in a garage for five years, towed it home, vacuumed some mice nests and critters out from under the hood, ran through the fuel system, ignition, eventually water pump and cooling system. It has been spent more time being worked on since it came into my possession than it has being driven. After all this it still had a low speed miss and acceleration hesitation so it was decided to bite the bullet and take it somewhere to be looked at, should have it back by the end of week hopefully. Recently acquired some 18 inch powdercoated Konigs on CL and some OEM style update lights, trying to keep it clean but bring it to a more modern look I guess. Want to do a serious suspension overhaul after the winter, thinking h&r cup kit or h&r springs with bilstein hd or sport shock, will need to downsize tires a bit I think for that cause the wheels came 245s on back and 235 fronts, want to go to 225s all around. The old thing might never be too fast but could at least look different and sit nice. I always wanted a older vw or e30 bmw but this thing sort of fell into my lap and the price was too right. Thinking about maybe getting rid of the chrome on the grille next.

I'm in Eden Prairie, work in Edina. VIP treatment is cool, but some of those cars are too much for me. I'd like to go a bit lower, maybe a remus exhaust, and probably just daily drive the thing to 300k with a little luck.

Thanks folks. Got it back from the shop and it runs like a top with new injectors and fuel pump relay. I really love the old thing though sometimes I'm not sure why, as I spend so much time trying to keep the thing on the road. Before I took it in it had a peculiar issue with stalling out on clover leaf ramps, and having to give it gas upon start up until warmed up or it would die. Thought maybe the head gasket had went so I was somewhat relieved it was only injectors and a relay. You just can't beat German cars from the 80's. Most people not as versed in the automotive world guess it is much newer, I suppose they might think it's a '94 e320, the last year of w124, but even then it would still be a pretty "old car" by most people. Thinking of painting the grille next, the chrome would be white to match the body and the plastic insert would probably be matte black or gray. Want to maybe get rid of the headlight wipers too but I think they are sort of a funky touch, like the single wiper blade. It's got character I like to think.

Default Duluth, Chester Park photos and update

New 225/40s, H&R springs, and billy sports for spring. Replaced blower motor today which was a real pain, but I'll be happy when it is subzero next week.
