Those look to be higher performance all seasons with little in the way of siping, which along with the width doesn't bode well for good control in the winter.

Indeed. $150 and they're yours. Tons of tread left. Prob a good spring summer fall tire for a mid-size or larger sedan/wagon.

Question: Maybe I missed it but why are you so insistant on 8" wide wheels???

In the snow and ice you are better off with skinnier tires. Plus, you can stick the same tires on a 7.5" wide wheel that you can on an 8" wide wheel.

    Or am I missing something.

Because the initial idea was to use a 245 wide tire. Sold those tires tho. Going a different route now.

Glad you sold them. 245 width in the snow and slop would generally suck donkey balls, even if they were a good winter capable tire (which they weren't).

You know, they sell steel wheels for snow tires (or any tire I guess) on tire rack for a whopping $40 each. you could get some 16", and then get snows for well under $100 each. General Alitmax tires pretty much rule.

    FYI.

I have a "dedicated" winter set in the works.
