TCD is legit. Their kits come totally pre-fit for the car. They have a stage 1 kit and a stage 2 kit. The Stage 2 kit includes an aftercooler setup as well. Neither include exhaust though, you're on your own for that.

Is this a pipe dream, or something you have the means and interest to do?

that turbo kit setup looks pretty good. these engines were offered with a turbo from the factory in the 745, as well as in a number of Alpina versions of the 6 over its lifespan. with the US spec cars' low compression 8.0:1, they respond to boost really well. all the more reason why its been stuck in the back of my head since i got the car.

there are plenty of manuals out there for the car, including bentley. you can buy one for the E28 5 series since its the same chassis and same drivetrain -- only main difference between the two cars is the body, thats about it.

Then TCD is your best bet over piecing a kit together. The TCD kit comes custom fit for the M30. The manifold is cast, and high quality, and all the charge piping is mandrel bent and pre-welded. Basically, it takes all the shopping for parts out of the project, and skips right to the installation. If you don't mind piecing your own stuff together, some of the eBay kits are actually not too bad, just don't use an eBay turbo. You could buy an eBay kit for a grand, run your own piping custom, and just put a different turbo and wastegate on and you'll save some money.

Mtriple (Bob Cooper) on here has an M20 TCD turbo kit on his E30. His project thread is worth a read to see what you'd be getting yourself into. It's not something you just install over the weekend.

If you're going to do a turbo then you will for sure want to do the fuel system refresh I mentioned in my earlier post.

Spend some time on bigcoupe.com and mye28.com for M30 specific info.

After thinking about this car i have decided to pretty much keep it as it is. Im going to fix a few minor dings in the paint, and tidy up a few things. Overall this car is in pretty good shape and i just don't want to chop it up.
