If you go to the junkyard and grab an alarm module out of a '98 mk3 and combine it with a mk3 keyfob, you would actually have working keyless entry.

really? how would i install that? maybe might do that later! for now im running low on money and need to find a new job, need to turn in another application for discount tire.

Did you buy the correct key blank to fit that keyfob? Also you could do it yourself all you do is pop a little pin out, pop the cut and ground key blank to fit the fob in, and put the pin back in..

I dont know what you think your going to have the dealership do for you... MK3 keys are cut different than MK4+ keys and take a different blank.

they cant cut that blank into an mk3 key. mk4 keys are laser cut. this is harkening back to the the intake

Well hopefully he bought the one from TMTuning that has a custom made Regular blank in it that any dealer can cut. I almost did it back in the day but I decided it would take too much work to make the MK4 fob work with the mk3 alarm.

This works too but I have heard of people running into issues from the VW dealers getting keys cut since it isn't for a Eurovan. And most hardware stores and other place apparently can't cut them in their machines. Or at least that is what I remember from when I looked into it when I had my MK3.
