well im not sure ill ever go back to treffen again.



last year on the way there it claimed the head gasket of my 33,000 mile rabbit and shot a spark plug out the head of my bug

this year it claimed my caddy,

i was the only caddy there and didn't even win a trophy when the mk1 scirocco was in its own class and defaulted a first place?

Ryan didn't win a trophy last year with the caddy either. maybe im prejudice but i think the caddy is the coolest sh*t around. had crazy amount of attention because of the supercharger and the clean as hell interior.

im pretty sure it was because i didn't have enough stickers. and i even put 2 stickers on AT the show. :\

I don't go for trophies to any car show with my bug or the truck. hell ive only had the truck at 2 car shows, and the first one it won a trophy and i wasn't even around to get it because i wasn't expecting one at all. but it was kind of a nail in the coffin after every thing else that went wrong.

judging was done different last year with the judges picking a first place and the crowd picking the 2nd place, but you knew if you got second place you really got first place because more people voted for the 2nd place.

anyhow

after the show i went to start the truck and didn't give it gas to keep it running right away so it died and still sent fuel through the lines so it flooded itself. usually i have to wait ~30min and crank and crank and crank to burn the fuel through the lines, but it wouldn't start.

pulled the plugs, and the fuel pump fuse and cranked on it to shoot the fuel through the motor, there was a lot. plugs were soaked cleaned em off put em back in and truck still wouldn't start.

steve with the double cab stayed to help out and lend some tools and some expertise.

and melvin and luis and couple other guys helped out, i greatly appreciated their help.

one of the guys had a circle track autobahn racing team rabbit there with a race trailer let me try a different coil, and ignition module and the truck still wouldn't start.

so i finally remembered i have haggerty insurance on the bug with free 125mile tow package on any vehicle im driving so i called a flat bed and ended up having to trailer queen the truck home.

went and bought brand new spark plugs 30min before autozone closed, put them in the truck, still wouldn't start.

started focusing on the coil since it wasn't getting any spark.

finally this morning i went out and took a wire and jumped the coil to the battery, and the truck started right up first crank like nothing ever happened.


wanted to get a photoshoot of the truck done late in the day but that company doing the shoot was taking too long with the other cars and didn't have any samples of the shots for me to see what they looked like.

AWOL.TV took some high definition videography of the truck with a big camera crane jib so i can't wait to see that in about 3 weeks.

however

it wasn't a bad show in all, i liked when the lambos and the mclaren mp4-12c showed up and stole the entire crowd lol even tho im not a fan of the new mclaren. all the lambos had custom exhaust and none of them revv'd the engines at all

the DJ was pretty decent with the music all day. food venders were expensive as hell but we was hungry so it didn't matter. good showing of cars this year i thought.

being able to use the facilities bathrooms inside was a major plus.

overall it looked like it was organized pretty well. I can't wait to see the pictures from the staff photographers. i don't think they existed last year?

ill be uploading my pictures probably this afternoon or tomorrow. i didn't take a TON but quite a few.
