Unfortunately I only have access to an OBDII scanner and not a Vag-Com. The code is P0100 Mass or volume air flow circuit malfunction. Could this be due to a dirty MAF sensor?

Aftermarket or stock intake?
I have the Carbonio intake that untilizes the stock airbox on the engine. Looks like the picture below.

Ah, good information. Thank you. I will take a closer look at that tonight.
What can I safely clean the MAF with? Can I use any ol' MAF cleaner from the parts store?

MAF cleaner from CFC or equivalent. Do not wipe off or try to mechanically clean it. Just let it dry and put it back in service.
