Default B5 passat HID kit install (a must have install for $99)

After missing my a6 hids I decided to call santa. Santa came early but I was too lazy to install till today. Bought the kit from ben @ direct connection tuning.com. The kit came with German made products not the chineese ones on ebay for $99 shipped. Total install time was 1hr. I was going to remove the headlights but found you dont need to. Anyway here goes:
    Tools:
    Side cutter
    Philips screwdriver
    Flathead screwdriver
    Razor blade
    Needle nose pliers
    Beer
1: prime keg from last weeks party and pour glass (21+ only lol)

2: get out all tools and stuff from kit, yes in MN its -5 out so you need a garage heater.

3: After attempting to install I found you need to cut off the rubber booty on the harness to get the headlight hold down clip in to hold the bulb in. I used a razor and cut it off, remember be careful not to cut the wire only the booty. After you cut it off you take the metal hold down deal and need to bend the small 3 little tabs flat so when its on the bulb it sits flat on the headlamp assembly.

4: After bending the tabs you need to put the connectors through the hole in the middle of the metal hold down part. Remember to put in on the correct way with the 2 flat tabs facing away from the bulb. Remember put the BIG connector in first or you wont get it through. It does go through but its kinda a tight fit and need to jamb it in there.

When installed it should look like this:

5: Install bulb in headlamp and turn the metal tab to lock it in, then take the rubber boot that covers the hole and make a slit and put the harness for the ignitor through then the bulb harness . On the original connector take the red male end wire and plug into the yellow and the black male end into the brown. Then kinda jamb it into the headlamp housing. Pull the rubber boot down the wires and put onto headlamp.

6: All thats left is to basically plug everything in. You can't mess up here they are all different.. After its all plugged in just secure the wires with the zip-ties supplied and snug the ignitor in a safe spot so it wont bang arround. The passenger side is kinda tricky but with the airbox out you can make it snug between the headlamp and airbox.

Pics of the module, on my v6. The wires are not long enough to mount on the underside of the headlamp.

Turn on the headlamps and enjoy 3x brighter headlights! yay. I chose 6000k because its the best for whiter but still kinda blue light, works well with snow compared to oe 4000k audi lights I had. You will most likely need to adjust the headlamps after this, my driver side adjusters are broken so I am kinda stuck with the lower beam but its still 10x brighter than stock so its not a big deal right now.

You need to clean your your slush screen my friend. Probably not getting the best airflow through there Nice install, these b5.5 hid installs are a bitch with all the modifications you have to do to the mounting brackets. Glad I'm in a b5 and don't need to do everything lol

didnt modify anything on the car itsself. the wires are not long enough to be able to mount the ballasts to the underside of the lamps so I just stuffed them in there. They havent moved a bit in 2 weeks.

on a side note I can help install theese for anyone in any make/model.

This is too funny. Did this on passatworld '07. Looks like the the same ebay style kit. Mine was on a b5, but I think it's the same install. Congrats on being in the "cool" light club now!

Get some projectors and you will be in business. Also all the HID kits are chinese. The best ones i've used are Xentec and can be had for $75
