I hate it when auto manufacturers copy others styles. I know copying is a big form of flattery or whatever they say. I suppose I am also biased in that I only criticise American Manufacturers when they copy Euro style. Anyway...

The Ford Iosis concept:

Copy VW/Audi wheels much? I hate that

Yeah, it seems that the europeans definitely lead the industry. It is however pretty tough to come up w/ an original idea these days....But if anyone is going to do it it\'s usually the germans ;)

I think the japanese have been taking over as inspriration a lot lately, too. Look at all of the cars with round taillights! Like it or not, the Lexus IS probably deserves most or all of the credit for that.

1. Lexus releases the IS
2. Ricers copy the style and put it on their cars
3. aftermarket offers that style for just about every car on the planet
4. OEM starts slapping the ugly lights on their cars right from the factory (VW included - I really liked VW and BMW\'s older taillights that had a very defined rectangular shape, but now there is the new golf, jetta, X3, Z4, etc..)

By the way, I think the Ford concept above borrows much from Aston Martin and Jaguar, and Ford owns shares in both I believe (Jag for sure).

I\'ve been trying REALLY hard not to constantly bust on American car makers lately and see the whole picture, and I\'ve come around on Ford (I like the majority of their cars) but I still can\'t stand GM.

As far as completely new designs, I still favor German styling for sure. They do tend to be the most original.

that Ford IS a euro-ford concept, so no wonder it looks european.

European Ford and North American Ford are very different animals, sharing the badge and once in awhile a chassis.

Also that concept looks very Ford/Jag styled to me, and since Ford ownd Jag, no suprise on this front.

It reminded me of a Jaq right away too. I was comenting more on the wheels than the body style...
