(Note: This story ends with good news.)

So my dad wanted to order up a new wheel/tire combo for the \'93 Mercedes 190E that I was supposed to inherit (but didn\'t, in favor of the Audi). I suggested TireRack (http://www.tirerack.com) since I\'ve had good experience with them in the past. However, after my brother helped my dad put the new wheels on the car, they heard a grinding noise from behind the rear wheels and couldn\'t even get the car out of the garage.

Well Cary and I paid a visit to see if we could figure out what the deal was, and we found that the locking lug bolts TireRack sent were waaaaay too long for the wheels my dad bought, so the grinding noise was the bolts scraping up the emergency brake assembly.

The short of it is that my dad had to take the car to the Merc dealer to have major repairs done (>$700) because of TireRack\'s screw-up. I was prepared for an all-out legal battle to make them accept responsibility, and I thought I would never be able to order from them again...

But they agreed to pay the whole repair bill, no questions asked. And they\'re sending replacement locking bolts for free. Granted, the problem shouldn\'t have happened in the first place, but it was really nice to have customer service work the way it should, for once.
