View Full Version : RIP \"Golf\" - 1985-2006

I can already predict the argument. Save it, folks, lol.
This is going to be a huge marketing success for VW, no matter what enthusiasts think. It\'s sad to see \"Golf\" go, but I think things have been a bit stale for VW in the low-end sector....
And, at that price point, VW is going to have a hot seller on their hand, methinks.

the new \"rabbit\" is as much a rabbit as it is a stick in the mud.

but that argument as an enthusiast really doesn\'t matter to vw right now.
the common folk are gonna love the rabbit name, I bet.
I guess I just don\'t understand the whole sacred status of a nameplate, everyone else drags all their names through the mud.
Anyways, the mk5 is a really good car IMO. There will never be any cars like the mk1 built ever again. Crash standards, safety stuff, creature comforts that people demand all require that new cars be relatively big compared to ones made 20 years ago. So the whole \"it\'s too big to be a rabbit\" argument seems kinda irrelevant to me, I dunno.

Stupid. The rabbit graphic was cute when they did it for the 20ths, but to actually go and rename a 21 year old model back to what it was in the 70s is just absolutely insanely dumb. VW is most definitely smoking crack.
