Check out the B7 A4 FAQ Sticky on Audizine... TONS of good info!

not unless a shop will install it ;)

That's lame. I ran for around a year with a diode and MBC. 17 psi, and not a single problem. All for $20.

agreed. I tried to get a couple high school kids down here who wanted a cheap mod to do it. After explaining it and posting multiple links to DIYs they still backed out. It's a pretty simple install with great results seen by a large number of people who attempt it.

I got chipped this summer and still run a diode and MBC. I havent really had an overboost problem, but the combo really helped smooth out the minor surging I had.

The mod is pretty simple. Basically you use a diode in the line for the map sensor. The map sensor measures the amount of boost in your IC pipe and sends it back to the ECU via a certain voltage. If that voltage exceeds a certain amount (around 11psi on stock), the ecu will go into limp mode. The zener diode dumps off the extra voltage above 11psi, so that's all the computer sees, even if you're running a higher amount. Using a manual boost controller (boostvalve.com) and a boost gauge, you can keep an eye on the psi and such. The only risk you run is running too lean, since the computer isn't compensating for the extra air in the cylinder. Read about it on the vortex, there are plenty of good threads about it

Let me know if you've got an questions!

BTW, If you've got the cash, I recommend chipping. Much smoother.
