Yeah still think aluminum and \"sheet metal\" is cool? Cars are junk now, sure it can absorb energy in a crash but 1 your car is a plie of rubble and 2 you\'re dead.

i really dont see how bad this really is, i mean c\'mon how many automobiles would be safe from having the trailer go right into the windshield like that?? I know my GTI would be fcuked as would i

I was thinking 1970\'s era cars could hold up. But this stuff now just feels cheap and plasticy.

modern cars are so much safer than old cars it\'s not even funny. Nothing will protect you if you run into the back of a semi going 60mph.

I saw some crash test pic of a MK2, unmovable object on left half of the front... the thing was tweaked bigtime and someone would have probably been in the hospital or maybe have died. Then, right under it in the thread, was a newer Polo, same exact crash test, same speed, heck the color of the car was shockingly similar... the front crumpled like it was supposed to, and the passenger compartment was virtually unscathed.

The lowest legal crash test ratings for new cars is several times better than the highest ratings from anythng built in the 80\'s, and a lot of 90\'s.

found some pics:

I dont know if this is for or against my argument but i survived in this pile of crap...sorry jess. But my theory still stands ,it may protect you but the car is worthless afterwards so id ont think raising car prices justifies safety or something.
