Ok,
I'm bored, don't really want to go mess with the brakes on my rabbit, so I'll post a project thread.

Here's my rocco. I got it off a weird farmer guy a little outside of cold spring. Originally, I thought it had a broken release finger, for the clutch. Pried the encap off the trans, the finger was fine, but the throwout bearing blew up. Replaced that, clutch pedal still to the floor, the release arm moved way too much. And, I could easily rock the engine back and forth with my hand. :headsmash: So, I took the transmission out, and discovered some yummy bad clutch goodness. The main seal leaked all over, ruined a nearly new clutch disc. Somehow, the pushrod also kind of welded itself the thrust plate. And, the trans was also pretty trashed.

So, I picked a new trans from ewaustin. I'm cleaning it up and getting it all purty. It'll be all nice and shiny when it goes in, because it was hell trying to get the trans out with the incredible mess underneath the car from various leaking stuff (maybe the oil pan leaked bad at one time, I know for sure the dist seal leaks bad, maybe the valve cover gasket leaked bad and made a mess at one time). I want everything to be super clean before I put it back together. I also plan on gasket matching (or whatever it's called) the intake mani. I plan to build a fuel enrichment thing for it. Maybe, next year, I'll go 2.5" exhaust, some cheaper autotech (or whoever makes them) cams. I am keeping the ac, as it sucks driving the rabbit when it's really hot with no ac.

Additions for next summer may also be-
turbo
megasquirt

I don't know. Depends on how much I love the car when its done, and how much I want to piss away on stuff for it. Not much of a build thread, more of a "just getting my car up and running" kind of thread.

Other additions may be for now- bosal rear muffler (found a used one for 30 bucks, might as well try it), corrado steering wheel

Probably won't be lowered, I'm going to finish bodywork, and then do the ghetto rustoleum roll on paint. Probably will be some shade of red (dark red), dark blue, or some shade of dark green.

I *really* want to swap in an MFA cluster.

As it sits now-

Some more pics (different tail lights, I like the non tinted looking ones more. it is also getting a modified 3 slat fox grille, or a homemade kamei knockoff mesh grille, and a monowiper)

Yeah, that's a 4x4 and ratchet strap holding my engine up...that's how I roll.

Oh, the mess that was going on inside the car, when I was putting in a new dash.

Looks like a fun project.

Hey, I'm hoping to have a parts 16V mk2 rocco in my garage in the next few weeks. If you need anything let me know, but I'll warn you and say it is pretty rough.

Huh, why parting? Why not fix and drive?

I could use-
A rust free hatch
Maybe some doors (if rust free)
any perf parts

going to swap out bumpers or anything?

Maybe will shorten the bumpers. I dunno. Might take the rear off, the rebar is mega rusty.

Going to the cities saturday to get free rocco parts from a guy on the vortex. I've gotten parts from him before. I need cv axles mainly.

Rocco should be driving soon enough. Hopefully I can stop driving the rabbit and drive the rocco.
