View Full Version : Wheels for the R

I need a little input/advice on wheels. I love these gold XXR 527's, I think they'll look great on the R and they're not spendy but I'm not sold on the multiple bolt pattern. I've talked to a couple guys here and they were suggesting OZ Superleggera's or Superturismo's but they don't have the concave style I like in the XXR's. Does anyone have any suggestions to similar wheels?

XXR 527's
http://www.1010tires.com/images/wheels/super/XXR-527-gold_lg_super.jpg

My other question is on offset for the rear. The current Aristo's are 7.5" wide with an ET of 38 and I would like to run a 15mm spacer since that's what I remember running on the 337. It looked good and had no issues rubbing. Now if I get the XXR's they are 8.75" wide(weird I know) and have an ET of 35. With the wider wheel and the same spacer would it push the wheel lip farther out closer to being flush with the fender or pull it in or be the same?

Blue car need blue wheel, I don't know subaru kind of has the blue car/gold wheel market covered.
I vote Superturismo's gt's or Alleggerita HLT

i think the tsw nurburgring wheels look really good on the MK6's
http://216.120.229.90/pictures/wheelpics/VT5592BR.JPG
but if i had rising blue on my MK6 i would go with a dark wheel, black or dark silver. unfortunately i have shadow blue so i'll stick with bright silvers.

For cheap stuff it's hard to beat the miro 111 on a mk4 imo.

All those suggestions are nice but it's been done before and I don't like them.

Do something creative cam. You are artsy, and think you should do something different than everyone with a R.

These are pretty close to what you wanted minus the color

well the art/graffiti wheel idea has been done. I'll keep looking but it'll be hard to change my mind off the gold. Honestly I havent seen an R with gold wheel in these parts.

Those Bremmers look good. I am a huge fan of the Miro 111s as well though. I feel like a cool silver/grey color might be best. Just not a huge fan of the gold/blue combo but it is your car.

XXR 527's

All I see is the multi drilled part.

It's an R32, spend a little more and look for the same style with 5 lug holes. I don't have an opinion on color, style, size, etc.. It's your car. But please don't run multi lugge wheels unless they're covered with a cap

Nope. But you do on almost every WRB WRX and STI.

Well seems like most vw's are on a different set or style of bbs RS's and they still get attention. I'm so sick of the "mesh" or "Y" style spokes. And what if the color combo is done by a Scooby, gues what it's not a scooby. I'm not out to set a trend or drop jaws/panties. I just want to like the wheels and have it look good. I can't find anything else that appeals to me though I dig a 5 spoke wheel. If you all want to throw out more suggestions then by all means have at it.

Yes they are my first choice but spendy and don't I have to get adapters?

I like the idea of a gold/bronze color choice tied with the blue, the contrast is awesomely eye catching. Try the color of the wheels on the BMW from cars and coffee (the picture on your telephono)

I don't mind those at all. Yeah they have a bit of a Suby look, and that stretch seems a bit silly for an R, but they look nice.

My Automotive OCD can't stand multi-bolt pattern wheels though...

tried to pick wheels that would work with adaptors, they would all need to be refinished but then you could do any color you want

Sorry Alex those are all :uberbarf: to me. The 3 piece bolts going around the rim look disgusts me. I want lite weight race/track car look like the grids and these xxr's give off. I've been searching and searching for days now and yes I've found designs I like but I'm not droppin $1000+ on wheels alone. I'd like to transfer the 225/40-18 tires I have already into the wheel I decide to go with.

looks like Falken 512 - 225/40, but I'd push for 235/35 on a 18x9. I'm running 235/40 on 18x9.5.

Chris, I have 225/40 Conti Extreme Contact DWS. Would those be good to stretch? I've been told the sidewalls are soft which would make me think they wouldn't be ideal.

yeah, they will work. They just don't pull off the stretched look as to me, they have a bit of a rolled edge to decrease noise. My old falkens FK 452 were much more of a square profile. I'd rather have wide tires with excellent grip, so I went with the Extreme Contact DW 235/40/18 on a 9.5. They look like they mean business with twisties, not hard parking.
