so its about that time in my life that i\'ll be getting my first car..
one of my friends dad\'s has an early 90\'s audi coupe that has some problems with it and apparently its \'too expensive to be worth fixing\' and they got a new accord anyway so it just sits there in his garage..

So i got the idea that once i have enough money to be looking for a car that I might make an offer for that car. However would it really be overly expensive to fix stuff on it? I would imagine it has engine problems or something..
Dont ask what the problem is, because i\'ve asked and all i\'ve gotten was that it\'s too expensive but i\'m trying to get it out of him.

Any opinions on this car? i know that its not the quattro version, identical to this (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2416335) one in terms of looks but its black..

Yes its expensive. I had that car the same color and everything. I only got rid of it cuz I live in a apt and have no where to dink with it. I wouldve kept it if I had a house and maybe if I do get a house Id get another one. This should be the quattro version cuz its the coupe quattro. Look on the back glass of the hatch and it should say quattro. If it doesnt it may be one of the rare ones that didnt have it?? It was only in this country for 2 or 3 years cuz it was expensive back then 35 k in 1990 is way expensive, shit even now its expensive. the parts are hard to come by and also expensive cuz they are rare and dudes love to rack up the price on them. For a daily driver it may add up in repairs. the car wasnt the best quality back then. It was continued in europe until 1996 and Im guessing the track record was improved during those years? But I would like to think audi only stopped making this car cuz they withdrew from rally instead of it being a total lemon. Also check out www.20v.org

I think you\'d be better off with something simple to get started on :) It\'s easier to learn on something that doesnt hve 50,000 things going on B)
