So I was driving along, minding my own damn business. I was looking in my mirror admiring the SL55 that was driving behind me. Then, I couldnt see it, because there was a huge cloud of smoke. WHAT? It then went away. I thought valve guide going... So I kept driving. I went under a tunnel and I heard what sounded like a playing card in a bike wheel, but inside of a tin can...if that makse sense. I couldnt really tell where it was coming from. Sounded like the front of the car, and it only did it if I was on the gas. It Still did it when I had the clutch in. However, the car died when I put the clutch in. I was in an area I couldnt pull over so I drove about 1/2 mile (freeway) and pulled over. The car died When I put the clutch in to pull over. I now had smoke everywhere. I went out and looked and there was oil all over my cam gear, and it looked like a little leaked onto the ground already. It also smelled like burning. I took the oil cap off and it sounded like a griddle in there. I also had no coolant, at all in the resevoir. (none came out when I took the head off either) I took the #4 spark plug out to see what was up, and I thought I saw chunks out of the cylinder, so I thought I had dropped a valve. I decided to pull the head to see whats up. I got the valve cover off and there was not much oil in there, and it smelled really burnt...bad. I checked the oil. (it had time to settle as I had it towed home) There IS oil in there, its right where it should be. All the head bolts were tight. I pulled the head....In cylinder #4 there were little metal shavings. I dont know why there is so much oil all over the head gasket in the location you see in the pictures. So basically I had extreme detonation, and the head gasket failed.... time for a new motor. I barely had this one for 3000 miles. :S

here is how covered in oil the cam gear was, after I got out and popped the hood....did I mention that? You can see it smoking...the haziness.

I just....6 hours, maybe I just need a break I did realize the cam in this head is not oem, from what I was told its a 260, we\'ll see.. pics later.... On the plus side, my wife kicks ass and is polishing my intake manifold I\'m changing the oil now as we speak...it\'s draining. No metal or anything in the oil! Whoo!

well, here\'s some pics.... here is the new head installed. I put a metal headgasket on, so hopefully this won\'t happen again. I also took some time to clean up the engine bay a little more when the head was off.
