A few??? Seriously now. Honesty counts :D I'd estimate around 6 :P

A bunch of the guys helped me out BIG time with my mk2 2.0L swap, but I don't know the guts of a VR6. good luck man.

well i know vwvortex has their "mk2 vr6 faq" thread and man if you have a question and to them its consider'd a "noobie" question they will eat you alive

i just thought having like a swap thread or something would be fun. i just like talkin bout what everyone is doin in their garages or if they have some secret weapon in the works

It seems like I'm always doing sumthin, right now I'm slowly building up an OBD1 ABA for my '81 Scirocco.
Yesterday I finally got around to fully stripping the block, today I'll pressure wash it and get more of the grime and rust off. I'm not sure exactly which direction I'm going yet though. I know I'm going to be running a Megasquirt, and I think I'm going to end up with a 16v ABA on Lysholm, but since I'm fund limited I'm not sure if I'm gonna just try to do it all at once and really take my time, or start out with just a Megasquirted ABA, then add the the 16v parts then the blower or what.
Of Course, if I come across a 1.8t with a manual transmission for cheap this could all change.

My buddy Jory in Milw just finished his mkII VR (and I use "finished" loosely ;) ), a lot of the work was dome by my brother Jon. Do you have questions or just wondering?

Are you looking for Top-Of-The-Line work? If so, check out headwerks http://www.headwerks.com/

If you're looking for cheap, I've had good luck with Cylinder Head Supply.

Headwerks did the head on my 16v.

i shipped my head out to krom (jarrod) in california. he works for giac and runs vw race cars year round. he did an amazing job on my head....he has a flow bench and makes molds of every head he does. It doesn't get any better than this.

All of this work was done by LR Engineering in Florida. They did the port work, but assembled the valve seals incorrectly and I eventually had to have it rebuilt again by Headwerks. They did a great job (and they gave a  to the port work Jose did at LR)

mine was 1000 bux let me know if you want to get in contact w/ Jarrod. I'll give you the info. That include a 5 angle valve job, full and comprehensive port and polish, polished valves, and a polished combustion chamber.

Maybe someday, I don't have a grand to throw at this engine just yet.
Does that include unshrouding the valves? If oversize valves are provided will he grind the stock seats to fit correctly? Does he install valve guides? Jeebus, so many questions...

Digital K

he'll do anything. bigger valves arent going to do much but cost you alot of money though

The back-cut valves I'm looking at claim 15cfm just by going to these valves, even on a non-ported head. Granted, that's not huge, but every little bit counts.

you can get undercut valves done for cheaper than big valves and redoing all the valve seats. which reminds me I had my valves undercut as well :P

I haven't seen undercut valves that aren't also a larger diameter. Did you just have yours undercut? 'cause some of mine are bent anyways, so I figured oversize/undercut was the best option.

Digital K

yeah I did have mine undercut. bigger valves wasnt worth the extra money. the valves are expensive.
