R32 Monster mats
Carpeted mats (I never used them, brought floor liners to the dealer when I picked the car up)

As most of you know, I treated this car as if it were in bubble. It’s never seen winter, and if there was rain in the forecast, it would not get driven that day. It’s been garage kept and still looks showroom fresh.

My house was hit by the tornado that swept through N. Minneapolis, and the R was damaged as well. It was repaired by Golden Valley Collision, where they replaced the driver’s door skin, the driver’s door window, the windshield, the hood, passenger’s headlight, grill, driver’s fender, and passenger’s fender. All of the replaced parts are 100% OEM VW parts, and it looks as good as the day I bought it.

Now, the reason behind selling. I bought this car brand new, and I put 12,000 miles on it the first year I owned it, and only 1,000 miles since. My goal was to keep this car as basically a time capsule. It’s a collector car and only 5000 were brought to the US, and only in 2008. The car will no longer be as I had intended. It still looks 100% perfect, but my neurosis will never let me love it the way I did. I really can't have new things and enjoy them the way most people can, so I need to let the car go to someone who will enjoy it, and move on to something used.

My only option is to sell it, hopefully to someone who will be able to drive the piss out of it, and still appreciate the hard work I put into keeping it as nice as I did.

I am asking $28,000 for it, and I willing to talk.

There are several examples around with significantly more miles and non-NAV, selling for the same or more, so I think the price is fair.

I have also talked with a few dealerships locally, that are interested in buying it outright. However, I would rather give the enthusiast community a chance to own it.

Thanks for reading, and here are some pics.

*The only things that differ from the below pics are the color matched side markers, and no plate front end. I can update pics if needed.

This is basically as close as you can get to buying a brand new MKV R. It really is that clean.

I can't think of another MKV where the owner:

-Rented a ford focus for two days to keep from driving it in the winter
-Made his contractor roof a garage and install a door in two weeks so it would have a dry place to sit during the winter
-Drove said car to new garage on the coldest day of the year in order to not hit salty water, thats the only time the car saw cold weather btw
-Refused to drive the car for two weeks after purchasing so a guy from Iowa could drive to chicago and clear car bra it. Said guy does lambos and ferraris
-Won't hold the rim of the steering wheel so to prevent wear
-Washes his hands before driving it
-Has never used launch control
-Doesn't roll the windows down to keep dirt out
-Shuts off the A/C and runs the fan till the system dries out after every drive
-still has the plastic wrap on the interior
-still has the dealer tags on the keys
-Has only gone to BP or Shell for gas, and has every gas receipt with mileage tracked on it
-Im probably forgetting other stuff

This is why I can't have new things. :sadpanda:

Bump for who I believe to be my old neighbor! I have seen this car (the few times it was not in the garage, usually being cleaned...seariously). It is indeed a pristine example!

Yep, that was me.

If the car ever sat outside my apartment, it was parked so no one could park near it. Or I would park my wagon next to it. I also remember installing a water filter/softener so I could wash it, and not have to dry the car with towels. Clean water dries clear, and I don't swirl the paint.

it was a mixed feeling. I always wanted to see what awd with fancy electronics could do in the snow. But then I would drive the wagon :P

I'll go look at your thread :-)
