I recently purchased a tire machine and balancer for personal use, and if you would like some tires swapped, PM me, and I will let you know if I'm free. Please remember that I am not a business, I am a normal car guy like most of you. I don't have the ability to do stretches. If you have crazy nice rims and are worried about them getting scuffed or breathed on wrong, don't come to me. I'm good at doing tires, but I don't need the stress of trying to please some guy that acts like a Saab driver ;)... Also, it helps if you are willing to work on your own car a little, and maybe learn somethin while you're at it. Again, I'm not a business, just another car guy.
Here is the price per tire:
$2.50 to remove from vehicle (this includes installing back on the car, do it yourself for free)
$2.50 to remove tire from rim
$2.50 to mount tire to rim
$5.00 to balance
These costs cover the valve stems, wheel weights, etc.
EDIT 19MAR12: Changed the pricing to include an additional cost for tires that are currently on a vehicle. It takes me a little longer to do the job, so an extra $10 for all four tires if they are on the car. If you show up, and want to take them off of your car yourself, sweet. You can use my tools, and less money out of your pocket. Don't stress a ton, I don't mind helping out, but if I do all the work and you stand there doing nothing, that's what I'm trying to get away from. Car guys should work on their own car a little now and then.
So, if you tires are on the car and I do all the work, $50 for all four.
If the tires are on the car and you do most of the work of getting them off (again, I won't mind helping), $40 for all four.
If the tires are off the car, $40 for all four
I do not dispose of tires. It costs money... Again, I'm not a business. If you need help getting rid of tires, let me know.

I recently purchased a tire machine and balancer for personal use, and have a couple questions:
Anyone know a cheap place to purchase wheel weights? Have any layin around that you want to get rid of?
Are there any places to dispose of used tires for free? A tire recycler somewhere or something?
No shit, Huh? Thats a solid purchase! You can buy wheel weights at Harbor freight, though they probably don't stick well or something.

Yea, when I worked there the tire runs were always easy and fun. We went to St. Francis one time to get "some tires" from a guy. We asked how many 'some' were and he said..."oh....I would make sure you have enough trucks"
Three full size pickups, all with pig trailers was barely enough. I think there was over 150 tires from this guys farm land.
MMCD does pay for the recycling though.. It used to be free, pretty sure it still is. The type mosquitoes that breed in there are known vectors for La Crosse Encephalitis. (http://mmcd.org/lacrosse.html)
Actually, it holds true for ANY standing water in your lawn. Boat cover, 5 gallon buckets, canoe, tarp over some wood etc. If it can hold water, it has potential to breed mosquitoes that carry Encephalitis.
Just as an FYI

FYI, if people would like to have access to my tire machine, at the moment the price is $10 per tire. This cost covers wheel weights, valve stems, and potentially tire disposal. These tire machines are brand new, and were not cheap. As much as a case of beer would be cool, I still need to pay for wheel weights and valve stems somehow. Also, will be keeping a pot going with any excess income from the machines for emergency repairs and parts needed for the machines.
That's the scoop, if the price is too steep for you, go bring your tires somewhere else... Not trying to make money, just trying to cover the cost of using it and such.

I will have to try and contact them sometime. Would be nice to find a cheap place to dispose of tires, and I would drop them off even. Found a place in Isanti that disposes of tires for like a buck each...

I'm not too sure where they have cheap weights, but I know there are super crazy expensive ones available. Westside uses the ones that come in one huge roll (the earth-friendly ones that have no lead in them). I'd say a full roll weighs around 20-25 pounds and apparently they're $360. I know....this WAS an incredibly helpful post.
free bump for great prices!

Are you pretty good with mounting tires with a small sidewall? I need a set of tires put on my 19's. When I had my azenis mounted on my 17's it took like two hours for the guy to mount them but maybe they just have a stiff sidewall? Anyway I would have 2 19's I need tires on and another set of 17's I need tires mounted on would that be a problem?

I've done a few with short sidewalls. They are a bitch... That's for sure. But as long as the machine is setup right, the tires should pop right on, it's airing them up and getting a seal on the bead that can suck sometimes as well...

Time has come to no longer do work on my driveway. If you have tires that need to get done, please bring them off the vehicle. I don't really have indoor space for taking them off of your vehicles.
It's getting too cold, and my slanted driveway is a slippery mess with snow on it.
If you have an emergency that you need help with, we can probably make it work, otherwise please bring tires separated from your vehicle.
If you don't like this, go to tires plus... :P

What size tires (aspect ratio more precisely)?
Thinking about turning away anyone with an aspect ratio of 40 and lower. I've done a few, and had ok success, and have not ruined any tires, but it's creepy. My tire machine is not setup for the lower profile tires.
In the hopes of not ruining anyone's expensive tires, bring your low-pros to the pros...

Samaritan Tire is what everyone is going to say. I have no personal experience with them, but they do good work for a lot of members. They aren't scared of spacers/adapters/stretch either if you're into that kind of thing.

I have sold my house, and will be moving to a new one soon. This means there will be downtime on the tire machine starting middle of November.
If you want winter tires done, please don't wait until the first snow, or you will have to go to a shop after mid-november...
The tire machine will be hooked up in the new house sometime in December. The new location will be near White Bear Lake, at the north edge of Otter Lake (google map it).

I'll try to remember that as well, and let people know when they ask me. I've had to turn down a couple people with low-profile tires, but didn't know where to send them... Hard for me to do with a machine that isn't quite setup for lower profile tires. If I had initially spent more money on a better tire machine I could probably do them easier.

So, I'm mostly all moved into the new house, with MUCH larger garage. The tire machine is set up, though may get moved around in the garage as I settle in, but should always be useful.
I'm now located on the North end of Bald Eagle Lake basically, just north of White Bear Lake. I realize this is probably much further away from people that have visited my old house, but the move was very beneficial, so tough luck haha!
If anyone has some summer tires they need to switch out, MAYBE we won't get anymore snow this year, so let me know if you need help.
Check the beginning post for more info if you haven't seen this thread in the past, but to reiterate:
$2.50 to remove tire from rim
$2.50 to mount tire to rim
$5.00 to balance
(basically $10 a tire...)
I don't like disposing of tires, but let me know if you need help with it.
