I have a PDR question that I always wanted to have an expert to ask. I am just an amateur that knows enough to confuse himself with half-remembered info from 20 years ago.

I was told that when you get a dent it actually stretches the metal and to properly take a dent out you had to shrink it back either with a "shrinking hammer" heating and quenching or some type of voodoo involving the blood of a cockerel mixed with Bondo. If you don't do that, then the fix might pop back in or out like the bottom of an oil can.

So is stretching real and if so how do you take care of it in PDR?

( A possible answer is that the amount of stretch is what draws the line between a PDR dent and a body shop dent.)

Thanks for any insight you can provide, and sorry to bother you, this has just been kicking around in the back of my mind for a while.

The only time you worry about oil canning is when the dent is really deep and in an area where the metal is really loose and no supports. Otherwise its just deformed metal that can be reformed to it's original shape. Good question. Hope that answers it.

I looked on the website. some of the repairs are incredible. I wish I would have kept my hail damaged mkV :/

qft i can't believe that audi trunk is real, i would have never thought something that bad could be PDR'd
