You're going to get a lot more for your money in Iowa than anything you'll find up here in the cities. (probably 85-90% of anyone reading is from MN)

Good cars at good prices get snapped up, so shopping from out of state will be a test.

I'd get acquainted with Search Tempest, make some craigslist bookmarks, and keep your cash ready... be ready to be the early bird.
