I have a primed fender on my mk4 that has been exposed to about a month and a half of outdoor conditions (bad call, i know). I dont know much about auto body so I'm curious if it'll need to be 'reprimed' before I have a friend paint it?

Also, is there any good place in MN to pick up some quality VW paint other than from the stealership? Then again, I dont even know how much I'd need to paint just one fender. Anyone have an idea?

Wow.. Im really clueless..

i talked to a couple places locally and they were saying about 300 for a fender painted black. i even said i would bring in the fender off of the car.

ill rattle can it before i paint it for that kinda cash.

they are....I had my drivers door replaced and painted when I got side-swiped by a pickup...no blending and it matches damn near perfect lol....same with my bumpers. I remember seeing my dad panel paint black A LOT of times when I worked with him at Master Collision Group (i was a prepper) and they always matched.

^ awesome. thats what i was hoping. I painted my rubstrip with a rattle can from advanced auto parts and that even turned out almost color match perfect.

Is it new?? or is it the existing one???? if it's new off the car no more than $200... but if it's old, and on the car... a little more for body and r&i time!

whats the chances that he could paint the front part of my drivers door too? the reason i need the fender painted is because i replaced it when it was damaged. so i'd have him paint the whole fender. the very front part of my door has some paint chipped off too.. would that be difficult for him to do?

no not really... he would probably just need it on a friday night and all day saturday so the paint can cure.. and then he can buff it too!!!
