Spotted at the intersection of 42nd and Hiawatha. I was first in line southbound on Hiawatha waiting to turn left on 42nd as you sped past. Car looks good, and at night that tint looks like blackout - definitely looks sharp in the dark on the white car. Goodbye Klaus! I waved to you, I loved you - farewell!

I don't think I ever said that. I know I've said that about E36s and convertibles.

However, this is mine.

Haha, that kit is on close out at the dealers for about mid 400's. The only reason I know this is my kit is sitting in my garage and I don't even own a mk5 yet.

Congrats Tim on the new car! It is a darn nice example of a rabbit.

I want to Votex the shit out of it.

Thanks guise.

I was going to drive the Audi this winter, but while I was doing AWD things in a snowy parking lot in Mexico, and I found a median someone had hidden under a bunch of snow. I thought I bent a control arm and I was going to just fix it, but after getting under the car I noticed I bent the subframe. I can/might fix it, but I needed something to daily drive in the mean time. This will be a great car for A to B driving, and hopefully for a long time to come.

So far, I like it very much.

I don't like the textured rubs on the front. It makes the car look like a linebacker.

Yeah, definitely keep body colored moldings when doing votex. Maybe R32 rear bumper and exhaust finish? Hotness.

Agree with Matt. R rear bumper and exhaust would be the cats pajamas.

Tim, the front votex valence is on closeout from VW right now for a whopping 20 bucks!

BimmerTim
12-14-2010, 10:27 PM
Plus $50 shipping. I need the whole kit. I might still buy it though.

Thats how I got my thunderbunny rear bumper, found out about the closeout through ECS for 190. They wanted 300 just for shipping. Went to burnsville vw, got good buddy discount and free shipping.

BimmerTim

I wonder how much the whole kit is right now.

I could probably squeeze a few pennies and pick it up.

Also, Matt, what do you have for a stereo in yours? I want to add an 8" sub in the driver's side of the hatch. I want it to be mostly hidden and 100% out of the way.

MisdemeanorMatt
12-14-2010, 10:50 PM
I went a little overboard on the stereo. I don't have much of a hatch anymore when my sub box is in. Pictures here. (http://eurowerks.org/showthread.php?t=12535&p=481174#post481174) Everyone raves about the jl stealth box thinger, but it comes at a premium price. There are a couple alternatives, I'll dig around my bookmarks at work tomorrow.

Tim I know of a guy that is selling a whole votex kit. It's already painted CW and has some miles on it but I think you could get a killer deal on it. I am gonna see him this weekend so I will ask him. On a side note I do like Votex kit's but so many people have them it's redonkulous!

You say so many people have them, but I rarely ever see anyone driving around with the full votex kit.

BimmerTim
12-15-2010, 10:39 AM
Yeah, ask him about it. I've found some other options that I also like, but I would still be interested in checking out the Votex.

I'm trying to find a rear storage shelf. I know a bunch of people from here bought them. Well, I want one too.

Well not driving around here per say but on sites like vortex, golfmkv, ect those sites people seem to be coming out of the woodwork with the votex kits. Given a lot of people dont have FULL kits but usually the rear and/or front valence for sure.

Played on the Internet does not equal played in real life. Black rims with a polished lip? You can get them on some cars from the factory, and I've seen so many normal boring stock cars with them in stock sizes. So those are P-L-A-Y-E-D played in real life.
