So on the way home from work I decided to take the long way and go around both lakes and some queer top gun wannabe on a crotchrocket was in front of me going 0.0001 miles an hour I dont know how he even stayed balance but he was using one hand like a stud and sweating every girl he saw and most didnt even notice him haha. So when he took 10 seconds to start going at a stop sign I got annoyed and reved it he kinda went faster then I had enough and floored it and turned off doing a burn out...yes kinda childish but really your not gonna pick up chix by yourself looking like maverick and goose.

I am so sick of crotch rockets lately. Why do they think they can corner faster than me. I keep having them cut around me going on the ramps, only to have me cram on my brakes cause when you have that small of a contact patch you can't corner that fast.

I always wondered that too...

They think they can corner fast... and sure, maybe on a closed course, with their knee on the ground, they can... but on the street theres too much gravel and crap to kill them, so they can't.

p.s. my friend Ashton just got pulled over on his R1. Doing a wheelie at 83mph on 694, in front of a cop. Ingenious... haha. I think his ticket is like $500-600 bucks.

Some of those guys really piss me off, thinking they're hot shit cause they dropped 5k on a bike and are faster than us. That said, I've got nothing against bikes and know a few people who are safe and respectful on them (cough chaseme cough).

Earlier this year when the roads were still kinda dirty, I was on my bike (it's a crotch rocket) on a curvy road. I was taking it easy to avoid going splat, but some stupid lady was riding my ass in her car.

Gotta love it that if I actually did go down, she'd be right there to run me over.

Morons drive not only crotch rockets, but Honda Civics as well.

don't forget young punks in GTI's that don't know how to stay in there own lane.

I came about 2' from meeting the front of a silver mk4 GTI in Hudson a few weeks ago. Goober head was way over the center double yellow mid turn right about the time I was getting there!

I went directly home and parked the bike. Sometimes you need to know when it's not your day to ride!

cutting corners blind is such...such a bad plan.

Seriously crotch rockets were cool in 1989 (well some thought that) and then I thought they died off? But now they are back bigger than ever?

Well I never wanted a crotch rocket... then I saw a 1991 Suzuki GSXR 750 for $2K on Craigslist so I went to test drive it on a whim, and I was hooked.

I knew my back hated the upright riding position, so I was thinking more along the lines of sport touring originally, but I 'm happy. Yes, I am more comfortable on a true sport bike with clip-ons than I was on a conventional bike.

I had a '75 Honda CB360 before, which was a beautiful machine. It drew compliments from everybody who actually had taste. When I'm downtown on the Suzuki, drunken morons in the back of taxis growl at me to imitate the exhaust note and other assorted idiots encourage me to do wheelies. I preferred the attention that the Honda attracted.

So if I cared about being cool, I'd stick with the old Honda. But I don't. The balls and maneuverability of the GSXR make me not care.

Cars have two things going for them, contact patch and braking ability (mostly because of the contact patch). So, a sport bike will out accelerate just about everything this side of exotic cars, but cars will start to reel bikes in when they are braking for turns.

Truth be told, an experienced track rider on a sport bike will eat up most cars on a track (especially long tracks with fast corners).

As Glen brought up, on the street it's a different story due to the ever present dangers of gravel and sand on turns kicked up from the side of the road.

The thing is, it takes alot of skill to harness corner speed and braking ability out of bikes compared to doing so with cars. Most riders buy sport bikes for the sole intention of going fast; they could care less about going around corners.

Before anyone judges all bikers know that some of us are still sane and love the sport. Trust me, sport bikes are not for everyone, but for those who do ride; there is no substitute.

"Four wheels move the body. Two wheels moves the soul."

Ick, my Icon squid gear; I need an updated photo session with the new gear and mods.

And you have yet to see the M Coupe with it's various parts.

yeah bikes on the street are completely different from on a track. I know tons of guys who wont even ride on the street because there are too many unknown variables.

After my little crash last weekend i will probably become strictly a track rider now too. Had i had the same corner that i crashed on, with track conditions, i most likely wouldnt of crashed. And if i had still laid it down i would of walked away in alot better shape.

IMO bikes are impractical for MN. It pisses me off too when i hear all of these kids sayin' "yeah man my bike can kick your car's ass." Yeah im sure it can, its called power to weight ratio. :bangin:

I wish I got better mileage...I'm lucky if I can get 35mpg! I am not hard on the throttle either.

70mpg would be nice. I bet insurance is cheap on it too!

Yeah, it's a pretty good deal all around - the only problem is my top speed is 65 or 70 if I really want to wind her up... Maybe looking at going to a smaller rear sprocket.

yeah but on something like that your acceleration would go right out the window. it would take forever to get up to 75mph and probably wouldnt let you go much fast anyways.

financial viability has nothing to do with practicality. There is nothing practical about something unsafe, small, with no cargo space or amenities. If someone does it to be cool, or because its fun, and fast thats fine. Even mpg as a reason is fine. But saying its practical is just silly.
