just curious if anyone knows how to go about this. Im possibly picking up a donor gti. I think it would be sick to switch it over.

1552 Design did it to a Mk4.

If you have to ask how to do such a thing, it probably isn't for you.

Well that's a crappy answer. Even if someone has the skill set necessary to complete a task, it's never a bad thing to find out how someone has done it if it's already been done to save yourself some headaches.
Cut pillars, weld in new pillars, profit.

I remember someone did it to a mk3 too. I saw it in the STANCE THREAD VERSION TWENTY BILLION or whatever it was in the mk3 forum.
Maybe ask all-knowing vortex. You have a unique chance right now to ignore search and just ask a question, because of the zeroforum/vbulletin switch
There have been several MK3's done. From what I have read many people have wanted to do a MK4 but decided to go MK3 because it was much easier because the body panels lined up better. That MK4 had a ton of work done to it to get that rear glass to work out.

The guy I bought my R32 seats from was doing it to his MK4 Jetta. He worked as a body repair person, so he knew what to do. It is a SERIOUS endeavor. You could just weld in your rear doors and call it a day.
I remember seeing a mk3 4dr golf with the rear doors welded and it looked super goofy with the little door.

just fill the door opening with body filler and bring it to your local maaco.
or bring it to maaco and tell them you want the rear doors 'shaved'. thats what i did on my bmw.

The Burnsville shop does GREAT work. Ask for Rico.

ha.
they're right up there though.
cut B pillars out, remove doors, weld gti Bs in (wherever is fine) and go about your biz. i'd assume the rear cards are somewhat tough to fit but you could just cut cut cut away to make them snug.
oh and i'm sure there's other stuff to consider but i have no idea like most of us as we haven't done major body work. personally.
shit's maple. cherry.

Technically anything can be done it just if you have the time and money to make it happen. Just cuz someone hasnt done it before doesnt mean it cant be done.
