Figured I would post this up to help anyone looking to do the same. There were no instructions provided, and nothing found on this on VW Vortex, but it is pretty straight forward. This is specific for Eurojet SMIC, but I imagine pretty much the same with any other manufacturer.

Tools you will need:
Bumper removal:
I think a #8 Torx for the 7 bolts holding the bumper on, the VIDEO will tell you.
#20 Torx for the 10 fender screws and headlamp assemblies.

SMIC install:
1/4" drive ratchet
1/4" drive extension
1/4" drive 7mm 6pt socket
3/8" drive ratchet
3/8" drive extension(long)
3/8" drive 10mm 6pt socket
Phillips screw driver(common size)
*OPTIONAL* large Crescent wrench to do some tweaking if needed)
*OPTIONAL* drink of choice

1. Bumper removal, is very easy, I would recommend watching this:

2.Remove passenger headlamp assembly using the appropriate Torx, I think it is a 25, but I don't remember.
3.Remove the ducting for the OEM SMIC, with your fingers, slide the rubber hooks away from the pegs.

4.Pull the tab out, the duct will come out then, you may need to pull the duct downward and pull.

5. It will look like this:

6. With a 10mm socket, remove the left bolt on top of the SMIC. It is easily accessible under the fender. Then the right bolt, using an extension from the engine compartment.

7. With a 7mm socket, remove the OEM hose clamp to the lower throttle body hose. Or, use a standard screwdriver.

8. With a 10mm socket, remove the lower SMIC bolt.

9. With the 7mm socket, remove the lower I/C pipe-to-I/C OEM hose clamp. This is also called the Pancake pipe.

10. With a Phillips screwdriver, remove the sensor in the I/C.

11. Remove the I/C and replace with your new upgraded one.
12. Re-install the sensor, opposite of what is shown here, it does not fit well this way. You will be using the supplied bolts from the manufacturer of your replacement SMIC. So, sensor plug-in faces DOWN!

13.This tab has to go on top, it will not line up, so I had to tweak it a tad. Easily done since it is aluminum. But, once you tweak it(I used a Crescent wrench) adjust the SMIC so the tab is on top, then re-install one 10mm bolt.

14. Tweak the SMIC so these line up, then re-install one 10mm bolt.

15. This is what it should look like.

16. Follow opposite procedure for bumper cover install, and enjoy!

Hope it helps at least 1 person!

I did this a little over a year ago. Eurojet sidemounts fit like crap, none of the tabs line up, but the performance (particularly for the price) is outstanding.

So thats where it is! Do you suppose it is similar on the mk5s?

To clarify install was easy aside from bending the tabs as mentioned above. I just think it would have been nice to have them line up right in the first place. All said and done though these work great in terms of lowering intake temps, I have the pulls from Eurojet if anyone is interested, and don't take anywhere near the work of a FMIC in terms of installation.

Just the top tab was way off, but nothing that did not get adjusted in 7 seconds! Othewise, install, was cake! So easy that I thought it would be silly to do a write up, but then again, not everyone is mechanically inclined as others, so this may help someone with their confident and learning! She pulls really well, like I said before, I cannot wait to get my TBE so I can really play! The weekend after Eurowerks4 is my hometown's annual Street Show, we have a dyno this year, and I plan on spinning!

Have any pictures of the stock SMIC compared to the Eurojet SMIC? Just curious of the size difference. There wasn't any fitting issues after re-installing the bumper?
