I apologize in advance for the over sized pictures
Iv heard some guys breaking your TT cover trying to get it off. I have been wanting to take mine off and paint it for quit some time. its very easy. takes some basic tools .
you will need a
Radio removal tool
.27Torx
.20Torx
small flat head screw driver (SMALL)
or a angle hook(pick) tool
we'll start with the disassembly
need to take you leg bars off . Four .27Torx on each one

Next you will need to take your ash tray out. open the tray, there will be one 20torx in the middle of it. Drop it strait down a bit, then pull out. there is two connector wire that will need to be unplugged. the white one you just squeeze the two tabs together and pull. the black one you will need your small screw driver (or hook tool) and pry one at atime

next you need to take the radio out. NO NEED TO UNPLUG IT!!! just let it hang .
theres two 20Torx on the top and bottom.

no need to worry about the middle one

once you get tho's off you can move the front face plate out of the way

now you should see two small tabs on each side off the TT cover. gently pry one up and pull the cover out a little bit. move to the other side do the same. grab the middle of the cover and pull it out the rest of the way.
it really slides out easy, so if your using any strength somethings holding it up.

and my end result
