Consumer hummer and military hummer should have never been related.
Clever marketing scheme, but useless vehicles.
Sign me up for a military spec Hummer any-day..
Pardon me, I mean Humvee

Pardon you, HMMWV
Kinda sucks, but then again, they haven't made a legit offroad vehicle for a few years now.

Define 'legit offroad vehicle'. Even though they may have been based on other GM products doesn't mean they weren't more capable off road than your average truck.

HMMWV (AKA Hummer H1) was a "legit offroad vehicle" because it was developed specifically for that purpose. it was discontinued for civilian consumption in 2006.
All they are anymore, for most, is just a status symbol, as far as the H2's and H3's go. H1's are awesome, and the H2's have nice off-road abilities, but I'm pretty damn tired of seeing them running around with huge chrome wheels and chrome doo-dads for no other reason than to show that the owner is rich.

i have no problem with the H2.
there are plenty of trucks getting worse MPG
I just can't wait till the military replaces the humvee, that means all of the old mil-spec hummers will be for sale at dirt cheap prices. That would make for an awesome winter ride.

Have you ridden in a Mil. Spec Hummer? I doubt your back could take more than 10 miles.
Not to mention they top out at 55mph. And good luck finding parts.

Yea, that was at cars and coffee last summer. The dude in the picture is like 6'7" or something to give you a little reference. It was one jacked up beast. I kind of like the H3's....but I do think an older beat up H2 would make for a killer winter ride as well.

It's true. They're terrible to drive. Even the civilian H1's suck pretty bad.

So what you're saying is that the only vehicles on the road right now that are "legit offroad vehicles" are old H1's and maybe the Jeep Wrangler?

I think he is saying that it's a legit offroad vehicle because it was built for that purpose.
Just as a Bugatti Veyron is a legit supercar because it was built for that purpose.

they are not that bad at all to ride in.
you wouldnt want to go cross country in one, but a drive for a couple of hours is not bad.
the one i used to drive would go 65, 70 down hill.
parts can be found pretty easily once the military phases them out.
i would rock one for a winter beater, for sure.

I have ridden in them several times. And if I ever got a mil-spec hummer the first thing I would do is swap in some nicer seats and modify it to go over 55mph

I believe it is called a "hypercar" now. We added a new tier of car status.

I figured the next tier would have been called Fappercar

I am not saying that the Mil. Spec is to harsh for the average person... It would be fine. But Saige has a back made of paper-mache.

If I'm correct. They HMMWV uses the GM 6.5L Diesel turbo that they used to put in pickups. Shouldn't be all that hard to find parts

Engines ain't the only things that break, hommie.
I am thinking more along the lines of gear boxes, front ends and suspension parts.

its made by AMG, so i would assume they can be found.
and dont forget, the us military is not the only buyers of the hmmwv. plus, the chinese can and are making knockoffs of the hmmwv using interchangeable parts.

h2's are ok but i would rather buy a tahoe. My friend got a h2 with 143000miles on it and it was on its 2nd tranny and needed a lot of other work. I'll also add the interior was falling apart. The thing that I had to laugh at was he said it was his 1st exotic car. Really? Exotic and h2 do they even go in the same statement?? Not wanting to be a dick I didn't call him out on it but if you payed less then 20 grand for it and you can see one on the road every 5 miles I don't think its an exotic car.

They started production with the 6.2, then they moved up to the 6.5.
You'll definitely be needing parts for those engines...
