What I'm looking for is a certified Audi tech to inspect a B5 S4 that's currently in the junkyard for brake failure and be willing to sign a statement to be used in court.

Now the background...

My Dad's wife went into labor 3 months prematurely so he had me take his car which has a slightly better ability to transfer essentials to and from the hospital than a MK2 GTI. While I had the car, I was giving a friend a ride home and was exiting 35W onto 60th St. when the brakes completely failed. I pressed the pedal and nothing, nothing happened. So instead of slowing, we actually sped up until we collided with the underpass at an estimated 50 mph.

Long story short, I'm currently being charged with careless driving, which I'm going to trial to fight. I'm looking for an Audi tech to take a look at the car (or have me take detailed pictures which I could relay) and be willing to sign a statement.

Don't worry about my schedule, I'll make it work with whenever you can. The only constraint is that it has to be before the 21st of this month because my awesome public defender is going on vacation. I'm willing to compensate for time spent, obviously.

So please, whoever could do this, post up and I'll PM you about getting this taken care of. Thanks. :cookie:

I am not an Audi tech, but I have heard of ABS pump and module failure that makes the pedal travel all the way to the floor. I would look online and see if others may have had a similar issue.

If the "BRAKE" warning light is on and flashing along with an audible beep, the module was on its way out. This is a common problem and could lead to a confused pump which may cause the soft pedal.

Ah, thank you for posting. I wasn't aware of that. It could help me out to walk into court with several other documented cases that are similar.

I suppose it doesn't need to be an Audi tech specifically, so if any of you out there that want to make a quick buck please get a hold of me.

there are only 2 ways the brakes could fail-
1-line leak or caliper and fluid was lost
2-master cyl failure

I have also seen brake boosters fail but they cause a super hard pedal not no pedal.

Pressing the brakes does not make the car accelerate. Either they work and you brake or they don't work and nothing happens. Not acceleration. Only the gas pedal does that.

They are 2 completely different systems, its mechanically IMPOSSIBLE to press the brake pedal and for the car to increase in speed.

In 1986, there were reports of "unintended acceleration" in some Audi models. After tons of investigation, it was determined that it was caused by hitting the gas pedal and not the brakes.

If the brakes don't work, use the ebrake. They are mechanical, not hydraulic. And shut the engine off.

I wasn't aware of the 1986 incident, but thank you for the knowledge. As far as me speeding up, it had nothing to do with the brakes and even less do to with the accelerator. I was going down a hill (as I said I was exiting the highway), so you can blame gravity for that one.

If you hired an attorney they should find you a person who is qualified to give this kind of statement in court.

What are you trying to fight in court? did you have the car worked on somewhere days prior to the accident?
