I got mine worked on at Morrie's, they did a pretty superb job.

I've heard great things about Raymonds, although I've also heard they are pretty spendy

maybe, but generally you are going to be required to get more than one estimate.

Hm... I've never had that experience myself. I've only had to get more then one estimate when I wanted to shop around for pricing / turn around time on my own vehicle.

If someone else hits you and it's their fault, their insurance will give you information on a body shop typically. In many cases they'll ask if there's a shop you already have in mind / is close by.

We did that and had the car taken to a local Abbra on Uni in Saint Paul. They did an ok job... I'm mostly angry they put an 04+ taillight into a 2002 SE-R. The two tail lights have slightly different internal lighting patterns. To the untrained eye you wouldn't notice it at all... it was the first thing I noticed on the car...

When I got hit at the mall, I took my car to autoworks and they accepted the estimate without question even with the car being a few hundred away from being totaled out.

you can take your car anywhere to get it fixed. if an insurance company tells you where to take your car that is called "steering" and is illegal. the most an insurance company can do is suggest a shop.

Just be forewarned, most bumpers do not match body panels, and looking at your photos, yours is no different. Bumper covers are refinished seperate from the body so color match may not be spot on, no matter where you go. They are refinished seperately from the factory, and you'd be surpised how far off they sometimes are.

you should just buy a viggen bumper.

agreed on the viggen. looks awsome.

off topic: is it wrong to get a quote for an expensive body shop, cash out on the other persons insurance who hit you, and then get the work done by friends or a cheaper body shop?

issue i'm facing right now.

The bumpers being painted off the car has a lot less to do with them not matching then you may think. The substrate that the paint is being applied to is the main reason. The paint evaporates at different rates with different materials. A longer dry time will allow the pigments to float over the panel longer, thus affecting the color. Also, plastic parts hold a static charge that will affect the way the metallics lay down. If I paint a fender and a bumper, in the same booth, at the same time, with the same paint out of the same gun the color will be slightly off. How off depends greatly on the color being sprayed.

Anyways, I would say bring your car to LaMettry's. I have worked at the EP shop and the Lakeville shop. If you bring the car to EP, tell the estimator that you want Charlie to work on it. He is a combo tech and does the best work in the shop. If you are south of the river and come to Lakeville, have Fuzzy do the body labor and Pat do the painting. (Altho, sometimes Fuzzy does do combo work)
