My cousin worked at the Chrysler dealership on 94 then they closed or something so he was moved to the one up on 61. Would suck if that one also closes. My ma just bought a new 300 so would be nice to have a local dealer.

It does suck but how many dealers do you really need in any one market? I mean seriously.
Within a 100 miles of my zip code there are the following...
25 Chevrolet dealer
25 GMC dealers
24 Pontiac dealers
8 Saturn dealers
22 Cadillac dealers
25 Buikc dealers
25 Ford dealers
15 Chrysler dealers.
Are people THAT lazy? I mean, any more than 3-4 in any one metro area should be more than enough.
And within each brand you have the same models rebadged. Chevy Suburban, GMC Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade.
You've got the Dodge Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, etc, etc...
They're all the same damn vehicle with different trim options!

Do the same 100 mi. search for Toyota, Honda, Mazda, MB, BMW, Audi, VW, etc.
Fewer dealers to support reduces your operating costs, unsold inventory numbers, finance costs.........

Answer: As many as the market can support. In this case and in this current market, apparently a lot less, but that doesn't mean we should be capping ourselves to 3 or 4 dealers for any given brand.

remember, amiericans are VERY LAZY. they would rather drive down to the end of the block and buy a gm than drive 15miles to buy a vw or toyota. Its the convienence factor. I think its rediculous having 15 or 20 gm or chrysler dealers in the metro. I mean seriously. Even take park jeep and dodge of burnsville, They are 1mile apart. ITS THE SAME CAR!!! wtf... dob is a huge dealer anyway, close down jeep and merge.

good thing we gave them all that money to get them to not declare bankruptcy only to have obama tell them they need to go into bankruptcy.
