is there a difference if you've been solicited/paid by a mag to shoot, vs this:

I asked if some one wanted to volunteer to take better shots than my crappe pics from my trip?!

Seth (NINES editor) was going to just use my lame posts in vSAAB and my picasa pics, I was trying to help/offer opportunity...

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/1286343677.htmlWOW that is one of the funniest CL ads i've seen. Looks like an awesome 240 as well.

Although the miles seem high there is very little wrong, the work has been done by a DSM driver of who’s dsm still runs, which speaks volumes more than some silly ASE certification. The marvelous Swedes designed this car, supposedly Volvos are born from space shuttles, which make them a little bit better than their retarded cousin the Saab (which was only born from jets :-/ ) I would not recommend buying this vehicle for ghostriding purposes.

Its the least amount of GM you can get in a GM car. Saab and Opel's european design team was responsible for the platform, which GM then trickled down to its american brands. Same goes for the motor.

It might be GM technically, but its certainly not American.

they make adapters for almost anything these days, i think thats a cop out.

I have asked several adaptor companies to make me some for my Saab. I want Aarons Mercedes wheels, and I also thing some old Corvette Sawblade wheels would look cool on a c900.

For some reason none of the companies I talked to will make 4-108 to 5 bolt adaptors. The wierd thing is they all make 4-100 to 5 bolt adaptors. Whats the big deal?

They tell me that the 8mm differece causes too much interference when making 4-108 to 5-120 adaptors. What none of them can tell me is why they won't make 4-108 to 5-130 adaptors. Thats less interference than 4-100 to 5-120 adaptors.

I think it comes down to demand for 4-108 adaptors. If I could round up 50 people that wanted the same adaptors I bet I could get one of these companies to make them. As it sits, they won't.

Yes, older Audi's are 4-108. Some Pugeots or however you spell it from the 80's and 90's are 4-108. Ford Focus and older Fox body Mustangs are 4-108 as well.

Yes, Focus SVT wheels look pretty alright, but I don't think they would look right on a c900. Maybe on a 9000.

I got some turbine wheels off of a 1987 Mustang GT that I am going to clean up and run on my c900.

From Wiki:

SAAB Quantum was a series of 5 SAAB cars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automobile) built in the USA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USA) using a Saab 96 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_96) two-stroke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-stroke_cycle) engine and suspension parts. The Quantum was first presented in 1962 and was only built in a few copies. The chassis was computer engineered (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer-aided_design) by Walter Kern (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Walter_Kern&action=edit&redlink=1) at IBM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM) in his spare time.
Due to lacking quality it was turned down by Saab in Sweden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweden) and never went into full commercial production.

Quantum I (1953) - only a rolling chassis (one built).
Quantum II - with a water cooled, three cylinder 750 cc Saab two-stroke (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_two-stroke) engine with three Solex (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solex) 34W carburetors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carburetor) giving 57 hp (43 kW). The top speed was 155 km/h and it did 0 to 100 km/h in 16 seconds. Only two built.
Quantum III - redesigned II, two built.
Quantum IV (1964) - scaled down to one seat. Available as kit car (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kit_car). Intended for Sports Car Club of America (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_Car_Club_of_America)'s (SCCA) "Formula S (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Formula_S&action=edit&redlink=1)" series.
Quantum V (1965) - one built.

The Saab EVS was conceived as a B Segment automobile catering to city dwellers who regularly venture to more remote locations such as parks and recreational areas. Its rear hatch allows drivers to easily load and unload large cargo without needing a roof rack. It is motivated by battery-powered electric motors on all four wheels; multiple green lights clearly display the vehicle’s zero emissions status to the owner and other drivers.

Its styling owes to Saab’s strong brand character, including the signature “hockey stick” graphic seen on the side window graphic and repeated in milky, sleek headlights. Its rear lights also include the graphic, demonstrating interesting light pipe technology as well as diffused light for the lower green light on the bumper. The Saab EVS brings classic Saab style into the 21st Century via creative lighting solutions.

Transmission isn't the smoothest shifting any more, leaks a fair amount of oil from between the trans and engine, alignment is slightly fucked due to the frame rail breaking and me repairing it, and probably cannot be properly aligned anymore.

And last time I drove it, the pass side window regulator died.

Saab "enduro".

The Enduro was a special version of the 900 Turbo commissioned by Saab Australia. It's still open to debate, but only eleven 900 Enduros were ever made, along with a full spare body kit. Five (and possibly six - Jan 2011) are believed to still be in existence as of January 2011, but the confirmed (sighted) figure is still only three. A reliable source recently stated that Ken Matthews Prestige (a large Sydney-based Saab dealer at the time) were originally commissioned by Saab Australia to oversee the design and implementation of the overall engineering package, with the body modifications themselves designed and built by Purvis Cars (of "Eureka"/"Nova" fame - http://www.eurekacarclub.com.au ).
The package consisted of large, flared fiberglass fenders, front and rear fiberglass spoilers, extra gauges (oil pressure [0 to 500Kpa - 0 to 75 psi], battery voltage [10 to 16 volts] and ammeter [-50 to +50 A]) mounted where the radio usually was.

The cars were originally fitted with Simmons 'P-4' 3-piece composite alloy 7.5x15" wheels. Gold-centred on some (Aquamarine Blue) and black on others (Marble White), but all with polished alloy rim shells. Some have been swapped for Simmons 'V-4' centres over time, with the primary difference being that the V-4 are more deeply dished than the P-4s. The track (overall outside edge-to-edge distance) is 4 inches wider at the front and 9 inches at the rear over a 900 Turbo of the day - mainly to fill the enormous guards. Tyres were 225/50VR15 Pirelli Cinturato both front and rear.

Suspension was supplied with 290mm (free length) by 17mm 368lb 7.1 turn springs up front and 300mm (free length) by 16mm 484lb 9 turn springs at the rear. Steering caster was set to +2.25 deg +/- .25 deg, camber to -1.75 deg +/- .25 deg and toe in was 2.5mm +/- 0.5mm.

To increase performance, the wastegate was set at 17 psi (1.2 bar) which delivered a claimed 175hp from its 8-valve B201 slant-4 engine. Water injection came standard - possibly a first for a production turbo vehicle.

After the Sonett I?

There were a very certain number of Sonett Is made, so yes, less rare than those (since the quantity of ENDUROs is at least 3, but likely more like 10-11). Hence one of the rarest...

There are other low production Saabs built for specific markets out there as well, so I don't think I could really accurately quantify the rarity of the ENDURO.

Stockholm
Wed Aug 17, 2011 12:16pm EDT

STOCKHOLM Aug 17 (Reuters) - Sweden's debt enforcement agency is preparing to seize assets of troubled car maker Saab in an attempt to recover at least 4 million Swedish crowns ($625,000)owed to parts suppliers.

"We have contacted Saab's banks," Hans Ryberg, an official at the Swedish Enforcement Authority said on Wednesday.

The agency can now seize assets, including any cash in Saab's bank accounts. Car production at the cash-strapped company, rescued in early 2010 by Netherlands-based Swedish Automobile, ground to a standstill in April because suppliers who had not been paid refused to deliver components.

Since then, Saab has been scrambling to find new sources of financing. The company has agreed around 61 million euros ($86 million) in short-term funding, which it used to pay wages and some debts to suppliers.

Saab's next big test comes at the end of the month when it is due to pay wages to its roughly 3,600 employees, a bill that could run to millions of dollars.

A number of suppliers have turned to the authorities to get their money with some 370,000 Swedish crowns ($58,000) immediately outstanding after final demands from Sweden's debt collection agency.

The amount due for immediate payment will rise to 4 million crowns on Thursday, Ryberg said, and is expected to rise further.

A Saab spokeswoman declined to comment on the actions of the debt collectors office but said executives were working hard to raise additional money for the company.

Suppliers and workers have been losing patience with Saab over unpaid debts. Saab delayed paying workers' salaries two months in a row, leading unions to threaten to demand the company be declared bankrupt. Saab later coughed up.

In July, supplier SwePart Verktyg AB applied to the courts for Saab Automobile Tools AB, a daughter company to Saab Automobile, to be put into bankruptcy, only to withdraw its request when it was paid.

According to figures in Saab's annual report, the company had to pay out around 157 million crowns ($24 million) in staff costs each month last year. ($1=6.395 Swedish Kronas)

Sweden Debt Collector Starts Seizing Saab Assets

Fri Aug 19, 2011
8:49am EDT

Aug 19 (Reuters) - Sweden's Enforcement Authority said on Friday it had started to seize assets of cash-strapped Saab Automobile in an attempt to recover 5.1 million Swedish crowns ($794,000) in debts owed to suppliers.

"One of the banks to which we have sent requests (about seizing Saab assets), SEB, has answererd. We have found money at SEB," Hans Ryberg at the Enforcement Authority said.

The money in the account is now frozen.

"SEB will report on Monday how much money we have seized there," Ryberg said.

Shares in Swedish Automobile, which owns Saab, fell 13 percent at 1241 GMT.

Saab To Apply For Creditor Protection -- Report

STOCKHOLM, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Ailing Swedish car maker Saab will apply for protection from creditors on Wednesday, a newspaper quoted sources as saying -- the second time a report has said the company was set to make such a move.

The new report, in Dagens Industri newspaper on Tuesday, also said one of Saab's potential Chinese investors, Youngman Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile Co, would not get official Chinese approval for a deal and that state-owned BAIC was seen as a more likely candidate.

No one at Saab was immediately available to comment.

Saab, rescued from closure by General Motors Co (GM.N) in early 2010 by Dutch group Swedish Automobile NV (SWAN.AS), has run up debts to suppliers and production has been shut almost continuously since April. The company also failed to pay salaries in August.

Dagens Industri reported that an application to the court for creditor protection would be made by Saab on Wednesday. It quoted sources with knowledge of Saab as saying that, in the short term, the company needed 2.5 billion crowns ($386.5 million) and that, in the long term, some 5 billion crowns was needed to persuade suppliers to start shipping to the company again.

It also said several sources told it independently that Youngman, with which Saab has a preliminary investment and manufacturing agreement, would not get the necessary Chinese official approval to take part in the deal.

Instead, state-owned Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings Co (BAIC) or sport utility vehicle maker Great Wall Motor, were seen by Chinese officials as being more suitable partners, the newspaper said. A source told Reuters in May that Great Wall had been talking with Saab's owner about a possible tie-up.

The main unions representing workers also have the legal right to seek Saab's bankruptcy to activate a state scheme that pays salaries for workers at troubled companies. Dagens Industri said court protection from creditors would also activate the scheme.

Swedish public radio reported on Aug. 26 that Saab planned to apply for bankruptcy protection. Saab owner Swedish Automobile said at the time it was aware of the radio report, that it was continuing to seek funding and was looking at "all available options."

If the company obtains creditor protection it would start a process of corporate restructuring under which it gets temporary protection while an administrator and management try to rebuild a viable business. Saab entered this process in 2009 after GM made pulled its funding and it exited later that year.

Chief Executive Victor Muller has signed investment deals with Chinese car distributor Pangda (601258.SS) and Youngman. He has raised more than 100 million euros in loans and car sale agreements since the start of the year, but that has not been enough to get production going again. Swedish Court Rejects Saab Creditor Protection Plea

STOCKHOLM, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Ailing carmaker Saab was pushed closer to bankruptcy on Thursday after a Swedish court rejected its application for protection from creditors.

The maker of iconic vehicles for more than 60 years has seen production at its Swedish plant at an almost continuous standstill since April because suppliers refused to provide parts until they received payment.

Saab owner Swedish Automobile had said it wanted protection from creditors to stop them pushing the car firm into bankruptcy and to allow it to work on securing its future as it waits for planned Chinese investments. But the Vanersborg district court in west Sweden said in a statement on its website there was no reason to believe a new creditor protection process, known as a reconstruction, would work.

Saab, when it was owned by General Motors, went through a reconstruction in 2009-2010.

In June, Saab said two Chinese car companies, Pangda Automobile Trade Co Ltd and Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile, had agreed to take a combined majority stake in the firm for a total of 245 million euros ($344 million).

The deals are awaiting approval from Chinese authorities.

Saab Does Tech Licence Deal With China's Youngman Via SPV

AMSTERDAM, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Cash-strapped Swedish car-maker Saab said on Monday it has arranged 70 million euros in bridge finance with the help of a Chinese guarantee, buying some time as it seeks court protection from its creditors.

Saab, which is owned by Dutch parent Swedish Automobile (SWAN.AS), has been on the brink of collapse after a Swedish court rejected its initial application for protection from creditors.

Saab has said it plans to appeal that decision as early as Monday.

Swedish Automobile said Saab has signed a technology licence agreement with a special purpose vehicle, or SPV, for 70 million euros. Swedish Automobile shares, which were up about 50 percent before the announcement, extended gains to rise 170 percent.

As part of the deal, Chinese car producer Youngman has also signed a technology licence deal with the SPV, providing a guarantee for its payment.

Swedish Automobile said the deal was part of a bridge loan, and that it intended to repay that with proceeds of the 245 million euro equity investment promised by Chinese partners Pangda (601258.SS) and Youngman.

Lack of funds has forced Saab to halt production for months, while suppliers and workers have not been paid. (Reporting by Gilbert Kreijger; Editing by Sara Webb)

SPG kit on a 99? It's got to be fast as fuck to pull off that, ahem, unconventional styling.

Looks like its mostly a 99 Airflow kit to me. At least the lower panels are 99 Airflow, the arches are probably SPG, and the bumpers look to be from a 900. Kind of a bastard mutt if you ask me, but not necessarily in a totally bad way.

Not really a fan of the intercooler sitting out front, but there isn't a lot of room under the hood for a decent intercooler, so I understand why they did it. An air to water heat exchanger is a cleaner solution, by far.

I don;'t think I have ever seen a dual round grille for a 99 though. That has to be custom, or rare. Seeing as how that car is parked in front of ANA SAAB, its a euro market 99, which would have never come with any round headlights...dual or quad.

Interesting car to say the least.

Some period correct ugliness, some badass ralliness, some wagon sex that never passed the prototype stage and some sweet Ursaab and 92 prototypes.

Spotted in the show room at Morries SAAB/Cadillac on I394 and Louisiana in Golden Valley. Most likely a 1973-74 (due to the ugly ass rubber baby buggy bumpers), sales guy didn't know, said it belonged to Morrie, that he owns 4 Sonetts and likes to put them in the showroom now and then.

If you get a chance to take a tour of his "museum" do it. He has 3-4 Sonnets, a couple of Astons and other older euro stuff, and about a hundred classic American cars from the 50's and 60's. Pretty cool stuff.

Also testing e85 with the 19T turbo, 650cc Bosch injectors, big FMIC, turbo back exhaust, Spec stage 2+ clutch holding strong, and a BSR CAI. have since hit 40lbs per/min but I didn't save the screen. will be dyno'ing soon after we get fueling perfect, it's still a bit wackey with the change from 93oct, to e85.
